I have a 6-year-old little girl. Leah. I love Leah. I really do. She’s all the things a little girl should be. Sweet, smart, expressive, unique & silly. Unfortunately, she’s the only girl. She has 2 older brothers so I feel her pain (I’m an only child). No little girl in the house to play with, share secrets with, have tea parties & play dress up with…WRONG! My daughter has made me the stand in to every production she puts on in the house, from play doh pal to sidewalk chalk chum (which I admit is great stress relief & down time). And she wants to share things of mine, too! Like my shoes, my hats, my office, & most recently, my jewelry! In my mind I said, FORGET THAT!! There’s a lot of things we can share, but NOT MY JEWELRY! But in my heart, this is my baby girl, my pride & joy, the apple of my eye. Surely, surely there is some recourse! I pondered, thought, considered, & after creating a few brow lines, it came to me…
GET HER SOME JEWELRY OF HER OWN!!!
So, I did! And yes, I do realize that I have an ENORMOUS advantage, because well…….. I AM The Jewelry Lady!
But, I’m not selfish. And I am sympathetic to all the moms out there who don’t have the access to jewelry styles that I do. I’m so sympathetic that I have created albums on my FB page FULL of little girly froo-froo items that the little ladies, teens & fully grown ladies just ADORE! How do I know? I test them out on my little lady. She’s often sitting beside me, pointing, smiling (face about to crack from cheesing) & saying “Ooooh Mommy! JEWELRY! Can I see??” Of course, how can I deny her the pleasure? She is in fact the next generation of The Jewelry Lady! It’s also great to have a second opinion. She’s got “the eye”, too! So your daughters will be in for a treat when I retire. Oh God, how do you RETIRE from jewelry?! Clutch the pearls in shock & horror! lol
Anyway, here are some more serious suggestions that may work for you (besides installing a high-tech infrared laser guarded room that requires a thumbprint, eye scan & vocal recognition):
1. When you go shopping & you see that *twinkle* in their eye (you know the one where you realize you’ll never see/touch/wear that item again in its original condition), pony up and get her one as well.
2. Recycle! When you’re about to clean out your closet, bring her in and let her have first crack at items you’re giving away anyway. Leah had the most fun in my shirt that I was giving away & all the jewelry I was giving to our women’s church group (The Sista Swap).
3. Use your items as a bargaining chip. Yeah, bribe ’em. I negotiated about 10 minutes of freedom off of one bag of jewelry & shirts I was giving away. It ended up being about an hour because she was having so much fun! And at the end, I got a free fashion show!!
Here’s a sample of little girl items. Inbox me or reply here with questions or to order. Orders usually arrive within 7-10 days. Happy shopping! ~The Jewelry Lady

Many ladies ask, “Should wear a scarf with a necklace?”
The question shouldn’t be “should I”, but “how should I?”
For years, it’s been faux pas to pair a scarf with a necklace, but now, it’s a hot trend! So how do you create a cohesive, chic look? Well, there are a few ways:
You can blouse the scarf with a choker so the necklace shows above the draped scarf.
Another method is wearing a layered necklace above the scarf in a V. Unfortunately, you can’t see everything that’s going on in this pic. The scarf is draped over one shoulder so it frames the extra long necklace. I couldn’t get my camera to capture it without it being fuzzy. 😦
But my pink Italian scarf & pearls still look so chic!
Next, I tried looping a scarf around my neck once and allowing it to hang and frame different necklaces. Notice that the loop can be close to the neck or further away. I put it further away for the bobble/bauble necklace & closer for the multi-strand pearls.
I also tried laying the pearls on top of a draped scarf. This way the scarf is a backdrop for the necklace. Try to match the weight of the scarf to the weight of the piece. Meaning, if you have a classy scarf, put it with a classy set. A whimsical scarf should be paired with a fun set. Don’t mix messages when putting jewelry together. But there are some pieces that’ll work either way.
Works well for covering the cleavage!
Finally, I put the necklaces on top of the scarf.
I hope I inspired you to try some different looks using some of the items you already have (or some you plan to own) & I hope you enjoyed my mini photo shoot. I know I did! Play around with these styles in different colors, fabric types & lengths of necklaces & scarves. Pair them with your favorite ensembles to see which ways flatter you most. And when you find it,

Does the snow, sleet, wind and rain of winter get you down? To boost your spirits, wear a pop of color in your outfit! Jewelry, accessories or garments that are a bit lighter in hue, can brighten everyone’s day. Try a yellow top to bring the sunshine in or a hot pair of red earrings. Pair those with coordinating handbags or pumps & you’re good to go. So lighten up your day with lively lime, tantalizing turquoise, or perfectly passionate purple!

Are you in a jewelry or accessory slump? Are you tired of seeing yourself in the same combos? Well, upgrade your look! Need inspiration? Creating a great look with fashionable jewelry is often as easy as looking to the past. Fashion jewelry includes vintage-inspired pieces that can help you craft a 1960s style or a 1980s outfit. Elongated beaded necklaces go wonderfully with long, colorful peasant skirts and smocked sundresses. Leather cuffs will accent your skinny jeans and high-top sneakers perfectly. An oversized gemstone cocktail ring is a fabulous addition to a tailored 1950s dress, scarf or even worn as a pony holder. Gemstones are great options when shopping for fashion jewelry. Many semiprecious gemstones are available in more affordable jewelry collections. Look for stunning aquamarine, jade, turquoise, amethyst, marcasite, peridot, garnet and iolite when shopping for vintage-inspired fashion jewelry. Choose fashionable jewelry that will help you express your retro side.

Choosing a necklace for your neckline stumping you? Here’s a few tips:
Compliment a V-neck with a drop pearl necklace or solitaire pendant. This also complements works with a boat-neck or crewneck top.
Pair strapless and off-the-shoulder necklines with a necklace that remains close to the neck. Consider a choker or a short strand of pearls.
Coordinate an open-collar blouse with a thicker, chunkier piece of costume jewelry. Interlocking chains that lie flat on the collarbone add pizazz to a dressy casual outfit or business suit. Coordinate your earrings and belt with the tones in your necklace.
Accentuate jewel-neck or turtleneck sweater with a long string of colorful beads. Precious stones work well with a thicker day look, while crystals bring a little glamour to an evening outfit.
Complement square-neck tops with pendants dangling from a long chain.
I hope this sparks the inner diva within you and helps you unleash her untamed beauty! If not, I hope it helps you pick out your jewelry & avoid the morning meltdown!! lol

I know this is a sensitive topic, but it must be discussed! Even the best quality jewelry can get covered with lotions, sweat, dirt & other contaminants. Along with these factors & the increasing pollutants in our surroundings, it should come as no surprise that some can have challenges with wearing jewelry. Fashion jewelry has gotten a bad rep for years for turning colors. Many people would say it was because it was cheap. However, with more investigation, it’s been found that allergies, environmental conditions (weather, minerals, rain, etc.) as well as body chemistry are the real issue. Don’t get me wrong, some jewelry is just cheap. But, even the best quality real silver and gold jewelry can make a person break out due to metals and other additives used to make real metal jewelry wearable. So how can we cope? We must adapt! Here are some tips to avoid, deter or delay having reactions to your real or fashion jewelry.
1. Keep it clean! Use good quality jewelry and fashion jewelry cleaners on a regular basis as directed by the manufacturer, or take it to a professional.
2. Rotate your jewelry. In other words, don’t wear the same jewelry every day. In the case of wedding bands or sentimental pieces, clean it more often.
3. Don’t wear your jewelry when working out, using cleaners, sleeping or putting on moisturizers or makeup.
4. Use care when cleaning jewelry at home. Use soft cloths, nail brushes, toothpicks or other implements to clean, but use light pressure, minimal scrubbing or rubbing and gentle motions to avoid loosening settings or dissolving adhesives.
Finally, consider these tips for fashion jewelry:
1. Buy 2 of your favorite or go-to pieces. If one turns (God forbid), at least you have a backup!
2. Don’t soak in any cleanser, no matter how gentle.
3. Coat the portions that come in contact with your skin with clear nail polish. Do not use clear coat spray paint or polyurethane or anything that says on the label “avoid skin contact with skin”.
4. Whether real or fashion, don’t sleep in jewelry. It can cut your skin, get tangled in your hair or get caught on something and cause you injury. So try to place your pieces in a jewelry box or night stand before turning in.
5. Keep a piece of chalk in your jewelry box around your fashion jewelry. I read this somewhere and honestly don’t know if this works or not, but I tried it and I have no bad news to report! Who wants to chance it? lol
I hope I’ve shed some light on this tender topic. I myself have experienced reactions to my (real) gold wedding band when I don’t clean it regularly. I also remember when I was pregnant, I’d wear it on my necklace because my fingers were so swollen & I’d break out on my chest. But I soon found that when I cleaned my pieces regularly, I had little or no reaction at all.
So, take care & take care of your jewelry!

Some days I wanna be weird. Not Lady Gag weird (I have my limits), but past the norm, totally random, “how did she make that work” weird. I get a kick out of it, I’ll admit. I like to take my accessories & put them together in ways that aren’t supposed to go together. My necklaces and scarves (my mom said it was a no-no), my necklaces as bracelets & my rings on my scarves. I learned a long time ago not to care. I’m a trendsetter. I love to do things in a unique way. They say that the first person to really do something never gets credit (God made everything and He doesn’t get the credit He deserves), but I don’t do it for the credit. I do it cuz it’s FUN!!! So I encourage you to go do your weirdest and best. Wear your rings as ponytail holders. Wear your neck scarf as a head wrap. Heck, use old necklaces & stretch bracelets as boot decor. Whatever you do, do it big & do it you!
One of the wonderful things about your pashmina accessory, cashmere baby blanket or throw is that it can last for years and years – if you take proper care of it. It will even get softer and more luxurious with each wash!
In general, dry cleaning is the preferred method of washing for pashmina and cashmere care. However, you can hand wash occassionally if you are careful and follow a few guidelines that are listed below. We do suggest washing it before first use to make sure the natural vegetable dyes do not bleed.
To wash by hand, first use very cold water. You may add a little soft detergent such as baby shampoo or Woolite if you wish but please be certain the detergent is completely dissolved first. Then wash very gently by hand while being very careful with the hand-tied tassels if you are washing a pashmina accessory.
After washing, please do not wring dry. Simply lay it flat to dry. Once dry, you may warm iron but it is best to put a piece of paper or cloth between the iron and the fabric.
